Looks like a beautiful course. I live in Ohio, but I have family in eastern Ky. I may bring some buddies down and play your course for a couple of days.
Can't wait to play this course. The pictures look fantastic! When the bermuda turns green in about a month....WOW!!! The website looks unbelieavable!
Awsome web site! a postive for Owsley County
Awsome web site! a postive for Owsley County
Mike and gang great job on the web site.... Can't wait until the new course is open. Good luck on opening day.
Mike, great job on web site. The pictures are great. WOW the beauty of Owsley County. The course is breath taking. Sag Hollow ROCKS.
I am not a golfer, but I am so pleased with this golf course. Now our golfers can stay home, spend their money at home. What an amazing course for our young people. This is what the area needed a step foward.
Mike you did A great job
THIS WEB SITE IS AS GOOD AS THEY GET,SOME ONE DID A OUTSTANDING JOB.
Hard work pays off, great job on building the course, thanks to all for your hard work. many hours of enjoyment will take place on Sag Hollow course. The web site is wonderful, love the pictures.
Very nice and beautiful country. Looks like home to me. Best wishes and it doesn't look like you will need wishes! Thanks Dale I used to play here but not golf.. Nancy Frost Moulton
Congratulations! To Farmers State Bank,Peoples Rural Telephone, and all the local Golfers, who have worked so hard to make this Course a Reality. Owsley Co. Historical Society P.O. Box 1166 Farm Bureau Bldg. Booneville Ky. 41314
Good luck with your opening, and great job on the web site. Looking forward to visiting Judy and Randall Spencer in Booneville this July and will definitely get in a round or two. Jerry Ward in Yakima, Washington
Just looked at your pictures which are up to March. Really looking forward to what you might have around the course as the dogwoods and red buds get into bloom. Great web site. Hope you can keep it up. See you in July for my first round. Jerry Ward in Yakima, Washington (Relative of Judy and Randall Spencer)
This is a beautiful course. Very informative website too. Someone is to be congratulated. We live in Indiana but are originally from eastern Ky. We visit the area about once a year. If we come to Natural Bridge this summer we will definitely play the course, maybe several times. The rates are very reasonable, you can't find those type of deals where I live in southern Indiana.
Looks fantastic! Will definitely try this course out. It'll be worth a weekend camping/fishing/golfing trip with some buddies. LOVE the mountains!!! Happy to see your county get something this nice. John, Lexington
This will be a wonderful addition to our county. Hopefully, Brian and Keaton will be inspired to take up this sport, once they see the course. Good Luck and I would like to personally thank everyone who contributed to the completetion of this golf course. Hard work pays off!!
Great looking course what about the road leading into it?
The road from Hwy 11 to the golf course is about a mile and a half. Currenly it is a gravel road, but I believe it's supposed to be blacktopped in the near future.
Great website, looking forward to visiting the new course! Would love to see a picture from the tee box of every hole, down the fairways or from the tee to the green on the par 3's...that would be nice to have on your website, so you can see each hole and it's beauty! See you soon. Jeff Ritchie
I like your website Fredrik
I like your web site
The course is really looking good right now. The warm weather has been nice to the bermuda fairways...they're getting thicker and more green every day. The club house is nearing completion. The rental carts arrived last week. Some of the members have been sampling the course for the past few weeks and having a lot of fun, and more to come! The unofficial opening is next Monday (May 1st). The 'official opening' will be later in the spring. Sag Hollow, I believe, will be one of the nicest and most challenging 9 hole courses in Eastern Kentucky, maybe the state. It's a public course built by many people who love Owsley County and the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. People who want to help the area with a beautiful drawing attraction for tourism. Campers who visit Natural Bridge State Resort Park and Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park are only 30 miles from Sag Hollow. What a treat for them..... rock climb at Natural Bridge, fish and camp at Buckhorn Lake, and top it off (for the golf lovers in the group) with a round of golf at Sag Hollow! What could get better than that? We can't wait for you to visit our course and enjoy yourself!
One word...BEAUTIFUL! Bart, you, Dale, Nelson, Tim, Darrell, and John have done a fabulous job making this course a reality. It's one of the most inviting courses I've ever seen. Absolutely the most beautiful addition to Eastern Kentucky and its tourism to come along in a a long time. Great job! Can't wait to come down and play a round. Ro Dail Norwalk, Connecticut
The course looks great and you all should be proud of what you have accomplished! It's great to see postitive things happening in Owsley County. I especially like the large rock know as "Trinity's Rock" :-)
Hope that the tourism that it is thought to bring in is great enough to keep it open. Hate to see the hard work be destroyed by isolationism. The road being fixed is going to have to be done otherwise troubles could concur.
I believe the course will be OK. It's not all that isolated, only around 2 miles from Booneville. Booneville is only 30 minutes from the Mt. Parkway, an hour from London and I-75, and about an hour from Hazard. The course itslf is 1 1/2 miles off Ky Rt. 11. The paved road leading into it could possibly begin in the near future, and as has been commented on, is very important to the success of the course. Everyone that has seen or played it has come away with a very positive view. The plan was to build a course so nice that folks would want to come back and play it over and over. Hopefully, that's been accomplished. Sag Hollow is a public course open to membership or guest/visitors who had rather pay as they go. We think they are in for a wonderful experience!
A huge "Thanks" to Eric, Randy, Tony and Mike for all of the hard work and long hours put into this course. Great Job the course looks outstanding!!!!!
Great April Pictures of the course, thanks Mike, Love the web site to view the beautiful mountains of Eastern Kentucky. Good Luck on Opening Day
what next for sag hollow golf club
Just looked at the web site,Iam impressed with your continued update I like the pictures I will be playing your course soon.
This is a wonderful web site. It's a small indication of how breathtakingly beautiful the course actually is. I was born in Booneville and will be retiring back to the area when I sell my Condo in the Washington, D.C. area. Jerry McIntosh and I are first cousins. Way to go Booneville!! What a great job and looking forward to being back home. Barbara Christman, HQ, Department of the Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
IT IS BEAUTIFUL. I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN OWSLEY COUNTY. I NOW LIVE IN OHIO. I DON'T PLAY GOLF BUT I AM SO HAPPY FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT DO..
The course looks great!!! For those of you that have not played the course yet, you have to come by. The course if very scenic and each hole is a joy to play.
I have played the Sag a few times now. It is great Golf Course, and only going to get better with time.
This is a wonderful and beautiful course, I think this postive attraction will boost the economy for Owsley County. Wonderful web site.
I've played the course several times and LOVE it. It should be unbelieveably beautiful in a year or so. It's not an easy course by any means, very challenging. You HAVE to hit shots. But from the front tees it's reasonable for any golfer. I've played all sets of tees and I think I'll stick with the Blue's (#2's). They're a little long for my game, but I love the challenge. My goal is to par the #2's before the end of summer!!!
Played the course and liked it. The bermuda fairways looked to have taken a big hit from the 20 degree weather in early April (like a lot of other stuff), but now appear to be making a nice comeback. One of the locals told me the 80 degree temps in March had the fairways green and thick, then the unusual April cold snap made them go dormant again, and they had to start all over. I want to come back and see and play it around late July. It's lovely enough now, but by then it should be breathtaking! Great greens too, but getting on them doesn't mean a whole lot because you still could have a 100 foot putt!!!
GREAT JOB! THE COURSE IS AMAZING & ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK IS APPRECIATED!
Absolutely the top 9 hole course in the state!!!
The course it breath taking to say the least, Buck creek running through the lower 5 holes with the Hemlock's draping gracefully is out of this world. Who knew this beauty could be found in Owsley Co. My hat is off to those responsible, you should be beeming with joy and pride from your accomplishment. Owsley doesn't have a great deal to offer in terms of revenue but its beauty is unrivaled. JOB WELL DONE.
Sag Hollow Play down the hill and through the creek, If it's a beautiful golf course you seek, Surrounded by nature so near, Where you can see birds and deer, With steep cartpaths and shots to fear, Sag Hollow will only get better each year. Sag Hollow is a diamond in the rough and a great asset to Eastern Kentucky. Venison (Vince) Turner West Bridgewater, Massachusetts
any time table on getting the road blacktopped
The official opening day events are scheduled for this Saturday, May 19th. Lunch is free to the public provided by the Farmers State Bank. Lunch starts at 11:00 AM and lasts to 1:00 PM. A golf scramble will follow lunch, beginning at 1:30 PM. 55 golfers have already signed up to play and there will be more, so if you are interested in playing in the Sag's first scramble ever, then you need to click on the "events' link on the home page and get in, because it is limited to 72 golfers. The course is looking great, the fairways are getting their green back that they lost to the April freeze and are getting thicker. tTe log clubhouse is taking shape with a beautiful 16 foot deck and green metal roof. The log building was decided on because it fits in so well with the rustic nature of the course and the beauty that surrounds it. COME OUT AND JOIN US THIS WEEKEND AND HELP CELEBRATE A FUN AND PROUD DAY FOR OUR COUNTY AND SURROUNDING AREA.
great turn out at opening day. great job everyone its a very beautiful course!
I was one of the persons who participated in the first events held at Sage Hollow Golf Course in Owsley County,if you haven played there be sure an stop by .I was eat up with kindness from every one connected to the Course and the corse is second to no one's in the state. It Is magnificent and well layed out,go see and play it is worth the efford.
This will become one of the top rated 9 hole golf courses in the state. Absolutely beautiful layout with bermuda fairways and huge bent greens. Beautiful landscping with bunkers between #9 and #2 hole. Scenic views all over the course. A beautiful view on the 2nd shot into the first hole across the lake into a large green. A par 36 course with tee boxes for every level of play. This truly is a diamond in the rough!!!
What a great golf course, and only going to get better with time. The Web site is wonderful I find myself coming back everyday to look at the pictures and to find all the new things that are going on. Keep up the great work.
I was so impressed to see young high school and college students from Owsley County working at Sag Hollow. This says a lot of the quality of the management. Who better than students to provide summer jobs to help futher their education. WOW!!what a beautiful place to work. I enjoy the the updates to the web site. Thanks to all the ones who work so hard at Sag Hollow to make it a wonderful place for everyone.
Sag Hollow is getting better everyday. It's amazing to see how much better it gets week to week. Just give it some time and imagine how nice it will be!!!
Thanks for the events page to the web. I enjoy keeping in touch with all the scores and activities. Fun events at Sag Hollow. Beautiful Course. This is a wonder for the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. Thanks to all.
When is the next tourney or scramble planned?
There's a 9 hole scramble every Tuesday starting at 5:30. An invitational tournament is being discussed for late July or sometime in August. Much of it has to do with getting the clubhouse completed. There will also be several 18 hole, fund-raiser type scrambles this year. One will be for the Owsley County golf team. I'm sure there will be more. Just check the home page link that says "Events" for updates.
Sag Hollow is the best value for the money anywhere around. The staff is professional, the location is beautiful and playing it is one of the most pleasurable experiences I've had in a great while. It is a wonderful thing that Southeastern Kentucky and Owsley County in general has such an outstanding investment. Kudos to the people who have put so much hard work into turning the location of a strip mine into one of the best golfing experiences around.
The blacktop is on the way!!!! The road to the golf course has been widened, and the paving company will be laying asphalt, starting tomorrow (7-2-07). No more dust. This should be great for business, and now we can wash our vehicles. I see the Sag being a big plus for Owsley County. For instance, a few weeks back 13 golfers from Madison County played the course. With a nice road leading into Sag Hollow, more folks might find the course very appealing. I mean, Natural Bridge and Buckhorn State Parks are only 30 miles from Booneville. Some vacationers might begin bringing their clubs with them on their trip, if they hear about the course. You can't really hike and climb rocks every day, can you...LOL. Owsley County (and surrounding counties) economies could very well benifit from this golf course. Sounds great to me.
I live in Breathitt Co. and I can't wait to come over there and play! Looks great.
I have played the course now a few times and really enjoyed the challenging holes. It's a beautiful course with many breath taking views. I would like to thank those responsible for its construction.
Great first year course! Couldn't ask for better greens and fairways for a course that has just opened. Really needs consetions though. Really missing out on a huge money maker by not offering consetions. Also a deterant for people not familiar with the Booneville area if there isn't anything to eat or drink at the clubhouse. Maybe just a little pricy for the location as well, not real expensive but should probably drop the price to get people to at least visit the course at least for this year.

I thought under the pressure of this being the first year, and trying to get diffrent projects finished that everyone envolved with the tournament did a great job. I'm sure in the coming years that the tournament will grow and grow. Hope to see the results and some pictures posted, if they're avalible........

Make the rates more reasonable for a 9 hole course, and me and my buddys will play more. Its a good coursw, make it worth the price of gas to drive to Booneville. You're to high right now. we came up and played one weekend and drove 60 miles one way , 120 roundtrip then had to shell out $28 to play. lower the cost for the common folk. Lower and I be back. Thaks, Jeff Crabtree, Clark County.

Great invitational tournament! Great prizes were given and everyone was very friendly. Can't wait to come back next year.
T1: golfsag
We will be probably move the invitational to sometime in June next year to better suit the schedule of more golfers. Hope to see everyone there.
I've played the course a couple times. Like it. someone new what they was doing. I think they might could lower the fees for play a little though. Don't mind too much the 21 $ for week rate, but 28 on weekend should be around 24 or 25 $. It only a 9 hole course, not 18. I like playing it but would do it more if it was a few $ cheaper and would come back more times. Gas aint cheap. And if I pay 28$ I want a 18 hole course. Lower rates and I'll play more. Its a beautiful course. Don't waste it.

How is the clubhouse coming? what about the tourney this weekend.
Were are new pictures to web site? Good job, this a GREAT course. The club house completion will be a great access to the course. What time fram on the completion of the club house?
I am impressed with the volunteers who give their time, effort, and energy to see this course continually improve. These guys are constantly completing projects to help this coures mature. Keep up the excellent work!!
I'm really impressed with the website! I'm proud that all of you have brought this prestigiousness to Owsley County. It's important for our community to grow. I'm anxious to go and see it. Thank you.
The Eleventh Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament was helt at Beattyville Golf Course July 28 2007. Players from Sag Hollow Golf Course representing Farmers State Bank Booneville,Ky took first place with 15 strocks under parr, this magnificent team was made up of Kile Bobrowski,Arnold Wilson.Mickey Botner, and Dale Bishop, they were victorious over 16 other teams. Good work fellows we are happy for you all.
To answer the questions about the course not having consessions, well that's true. But that will change when the club house is completed, hopefully by the time the invitational tournament is played August 17-19. There was debate on whether to have a tournament this first year, but many golfers from other courses, such as Beattyville, Clay City, Irvine, Hazard, Manchester, Jackson, and others...have inquired about a tournament, and have said if we have one they will probably play. So, as the nickname of our first hole says, the GAME IS ON!! We will make it an annual event. Information, and a tournament application, can be found on the 'Events" link on our website's home page. Everyone is welcome and we'll have a great time!!!
Agree with the above should be around 18.00 on weekdays for 18 and 25.00 on weekends. Course does look awesome though. What is the expectations for August 17-19? Big turnout?
